God will give us rest when we are weary.
July 21, 2026

“For I have given rest to the weary and joy to the sorrowing.” (Jeremiah 31:25 NLT)
“Rest to the weary” means providing deep relief, recovery, and renewal to someone who is completely exhausted. It goes beyond simple sleep, addressing physical, mental, and spiritual depletion.
It is restoring, filling your weariness with rest, whether a person is drained by hard work, grief, or prolonged stress. Such as relationship problems, marriage issues, job security, children, health or the daily stresses of life. God gives us a release from burdens by lifting a heavy weight—like anxiety, guilt, or impossible expectations—off someone’s shoulders.
“And joy to sorrow” means experiencing a shift from what has caused you to be weary, your weariness (a state of extreme physical, mental, or emotional exhaustion) is lifted. It is a sudden change in circumstances from weariness and sorrow to joy. For God delivers us, transforms our sorrow, our weariness by filling our being with His presences. God restores our mental and spiritual exhaustion with hope. By giving us strength when we are weary—joy when sorrow overwhelms us. For the joy of the Lord is our strength. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28) God Bless. Amen.
