Are You a Doer of the Word?

Actions always speak louder than words!

June 6, 2026

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”  (James 1:22 KJV)

This verse tells us that action is required in our faith, not just nodding our head nor simply going to church and reading the Bible now and again.  True faith is action, not lip serves.

Saying “I believe in God” isn’t enough. For how you live out your life reveals your faith.  This scripture warns us that just listening without doing is self-deception.  If you hear the teachings but fail to apply them, you are deceiving yourself into believing you are following the ways of God when you aren’t.

Do you gossip—that is not of God.  Do you complain and trash others—that is not from God.  Do you abuse your body through drugs, alcohol, pornography—that is not from God.  Does your pride and arrogance in get the way—that is not from God.  Are you deceitful—that is not from God.  Do you have malicious intent of others—that is not from God.  Do you sow violence and discord—that is not from God.  Do you speak rudely to your spouse, your children—that is not from God.  Do you disobey and disrespect your parents—that is not from God.  Do you hold grudges—that is not from God.  Do you place money, success, and power above all things—that is not from God. Are you lazy—that is not from God.  Are you jealous—that is not from God.  Do you hide your faith—that is not from God.

These actions represent a choice to NOT follow God and what God wants you to be and to do.  You put yourself above God and others.  For your actions always reveal your faith.  To be a doer of the word is to look at the truth and act on it.  What do your actions reveal about you?  God Bless.  Amen.
