Are you a worry wart? Do you fret?

Are you a worry wart?

January 23, 2025

Are you a worry wart? Do you fret? Do you worry about things you cannot change? Do you think that any of your worrying will change the situation? Do you wake up in the middle of the night fretting about the situation you are concerned with? Did you know there are different degrees of worrying? 1. You have a concern over a certain matter, but you can still function in a healthy manner. 2. You find that your mind keeps straying over to a certain matter—you are worried about and do not know what to do. 3. This concern of yours is constantly on your mind and it is hard for you to function—because you are so worried about the situation. 4. This thing that you are worrying about has you so bothered that it keeps you up at night. We all worry in different ways. Once the worrying begins it is so hard for us to stop, let go, and trust God with the situation. We even think that our worrying will help the situation or even the outcome. Matthew 6:31-34 tells us, “So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Today, if you are worried about something go to God in prayer, try saying the “LORD’s Prayer” over and over again focus your attention on God. Tell God you need His help, listen to Christian Music, read the Gospels and then pray some more. See if you can train your mind to focus on God and not the situation that you are worried about. This gives the power of the Holy Spirit to take over and you soon find that you have that peace that passes all understanding. Hence you are able to trust God with the situation and your worrying dissipates. Try it. What do you have to lose—worrying? God Bless. Amen.
