“For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.” (Matthew 7:8 ESV)
This verse reinforces our need for persistent prayer and seeking God. To pray is the way we communicate with God. It is how we develop our relationship with God. To seek is the desire for a deliberate, active and wholehearted pursuit of a personal relationship with God. It emphasizes that God responds to persistent, active faith.
This scripture shows us the importance of having a relationship with God, through prayer and the seeking of God in one’s life. Asking: Making needs know to God through prayer. Seeking: Actively searching for God, His will, and His righteousness. Knocking: Persisting in prayer, even when facing delays, obstacles, or not what we thought we wanted.
As we get closer to God we ask, seek, and knock and we find there is God. Sometimes what we ask for, or seek, or knock does not come in the way we wanted nor what we had desired the outcome to be. For when prayer and the seeking of God is driven by selfish motives and desires rather than a heart for God’s will—that prayer might not get answered.
No body knows the workings of God and why some prayers get answered and others don’t. What we do know is that God is ALWAYS with us in all situations and circumstances. For God’s presence is a constant—not dependent on feeling or circumstances. He provides comfort, guidance, and help. By praying and seeking our Lord, it ensures that in joy or sorrow, we are never truly alone. God is with us. God Bless. Amen.
