Does Your Light Shine?

We are to be the light to this world.

February 14, 2026

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”(Matthew 5:16 KJV)

“To let our light shine before men” means to live in a way that reflects God. Calling us to be living examples through our thoughts, deeds, and words.  Reflecting God’s love and truth in a dark world, a sinful world.  This scripture is a command to not hide one’s faith but to actively share it, living a life that glorifies God in all that we do.

Sometimes we forget that we (you and me) are the light of the world.  What we say, what we think, what we do does reflect our belief in God. If we are talking trash about someone—where is God?  If we are demeaning another person—where is God?  If we are yelling at our spouse or our children—where is God?  If we are drinking too much or doing drugs—where is God?  If we are spending money that is not ours to spend or we are lacking the funds to spend—where is God?  If we are gambling away our money, money we do not have—where is God?  If we are not taking care of ourselves: by what we eat or drink—where is God?  If we do not find time for God—where is God in our life?

See, actions, rather than just words, are central to letting one’s light shine.  For actions always speak louder than words.  Our actions reveal our faith.  We are to be a light for others to see what a great and mighty God we serve.  For our light reveals God’s presence and love in our daily life.  And what does your light reveal?  God Bless. Amen.
