God is Fact Not Emotions!

Let us not let our emotions toss us back and forth.

May 9, 2026

“Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.  Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.” (Ephesians 4:14-15 NIV)

This scripture emphasizes that the goal of the Christian is to grow out of spiritual “infancy” into a firm, stable, relationship with Christ.  The problem is we are emotional beings—we base our relationships on our feelings, even our relationship with God.

But God is not an emotion. God is truth. For God is the absolute, unchanging reality that remains constant regardless of our perspective, emotions, or experiences.  Unlike human emotions, which are subjective and “tossed back and forth,” God’s nature is objective and unchangeable.  Our emotions are responses to life.  God is unchanging always aligned with His perfect wisdom and infinite love, regardless of how we feel.

How do we learn to trust God more than our emotions?  Through our faith. For faith is not a feeling, it is grounded in God.  When faith is hooked into the fact of who God is, the relationship remains. Despite all of our emotions, our faith will see us through, and we will trust in the Lord. For He is a sure thing.  He is our rock, our strength, our deliverer, the one who saves us and is our life.  God is fact, not emotion!

So, the next time your emotions are “tossing you to and fro” remember God is the one sure thing in this life.  God Bless.  Amen.
