Our hope comes from the Lord!
September 9, 2026

Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.” (Psalm62:5-6 NIV)
“Rest” is when our soul stops struggling and finds true peace in God.
“Hope” comes from the Lord, whether it is our confidence or our future, it does not come from the world.
“Rock and fortress” God is a safe, strong, and unmovable defender for us, in every part of our lives even during hard and difficult times.
King David wrote this psalm while facing betrayal and danger, making it a personal reminder to his own soul to remain steady, to focus on God and to trust God to see him through the situation at hand. Just like David we are to actively command our mind and emotions to calm down. Instead of letting panic or circumstances dictate our feelings, we are to force our inner self to quiet down and focus on God.
Today, let us try to trust in God, even during times of intense pressure, anxiety, or opposition. For it is our human instinct to look for rescue in money, status, or others. King David recognized that those sources are unreliable.
True, unchanging hope—the absolute certainty of a good future—can only be anchored in God. It is something for us to remember the next time life feels out of control. God Bless. Amen.
