God Will Fight Our Battles.

Let us be still and trust God to fight our battles.

March 13, 2026

“…for the Lord your God is He who has been fighting for you.” (Joshua 23:3b NASB)

The story of Joshua is found in the Old Testament.  Joshua was chosen to succeed Moses as the leader of the Israelites. Joshua is the leader who brought the Israelite nation into the promise land.  This verse reminds the Israelites that their victories were due to God rather than their own strength.

God fights our battles by intervening, guiding, sustaining, protecting, and giving us strength from within us.  Allowing us to remain still and trust in Him.  God often acts when we surrender control, pray, and put on our spiritual armor—such as faith and the Word of God, rather than relying on our own strength.

In the song, “He will Fight Your Battle” by Joe Pace he tells us how God fights our battles if only we will be still and trust in God.

Some of the things we need to surrender to God is letting go of the need for control, our future, our relationships, our finances, and personal pride—not being able to admit that we did make a mistake.  It requires submitting our will, our anxieties, and our brokenness to God’s plan, rather than relying on self-sufficiency.  It requires us to let go and let God. Trusting God to see us through the situation we are in.  For God will fight our battles if we let Him.  It is something to remember.  God Bless.  Amen.
