“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” (James 1:5 NIV)

In the context of this verse wisdom is the ability to apply knowledge, understanding, and experience to make right choices.  It is not just head knowledge or high intelligence; it is knowledge in action.

Biblical wisdom centers on reverence for God, moral integrity, and aligning your life with God’s truth and the understanding of God’s truth. It is learning to be practical and humble, but also there is integrity and honesty involved.  Whereas worldly wisdom centers on human philosophy, self-preservation, and personal ambition.  It often prioritizes immediate gain, status, and cleverness over moral righteousness.

When you need practical wisdom, discernment, or direction—God provides it.  God does not find fault nor judge you.  God helps you in difficult situations out of love and understanding.  Because you can go to God without fear of being condemned or made to feel foolish for asking.  You do this by stating your confusion or lack of experience honestly and then ask for the specific insight you need to make a healthy decision.

“Oh Lord, I am so confused.  I do not know how to respond to this situation.  I have tried over and over again but to no avail.  The situation gets better for a couple of weeks then goes back to frustration, anger and conflict.  The situation is tearing me up.  Help me!” And soon God will nudge you in the right direction and you will find peace.

God is not a magical God.  God is the God of wisdom and understanding, hope and peace, guidance and courage.  He is our all in all. Therefore, go to God.  He is there.  It is something to remember.  God Bless. Amen.
