God's Goodness.

Your goodness is running after me, Lord!

February 16, 2026

Have you ever thought about what is the goodness of God?  What is the Lord’s goodness?  The Lord’s goodness is the essential, perfect, and unchanging nature of God.  Who is, was, and will always be.  His goodness is what is right, true, and loving. He is “our all in all” in all things.  He is benevolent, kind, and merciful, forgiving, protector, redeemer, creator, sustainer, refuge, counselor, who loves us unconditionally, who gives us hope, who calms our raging spirit, and gives us peace when the storms of life are all around us.

In the song, (Goodness of God) the phrase “Your goodness is running after me Lord” means that God’s love, mercy, and blessings are actively, intentionally, and relentlessly pursuing us every day, rather than waiting for us to try to find God.  God pursues us.  This understanding comes from Psalm 23:6 “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.”

This signifies that God is with us, His goodness is always there, that God pursues us continually always and forever.  For God is our Shepherd, ensuring that those who follow Him will dwell in His presence forever!  Because God is faithful: surely goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives.  And the goodness of God shall reign.  God Bless. Amen.
