I give thanks with a grateful heart.

“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:17 NIV)
“Whatever you do, whether in word or deed” encompasses the entirety of a person’s life. It removes the division between “spiritual” and “secular” activities, meaning your speech, work, relationships, and everyday tasks are all included in your belief in our Lord. You ask in all situations, circumstances, words, and action “What would Jesus do?”
“Do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus” we are to be representatives of Christ. It challenges us to only engage in words or actions that honor Jesus’ teachings. You say, “As I do this task may I honor You O Lord” whether it is at work, exercising, eating, talking, shopping, driving, dealing with health issues, relationship problems, or visiting with someone, our actions, words, and thoughts are to glorify our Lord.
“Giving thanks to God the Father through him” this tells us that gratitude should be the underlying attitude for every aspect of our life, always recognizing God’s blessings and grace. You say, “Thank you Lord for this day, for my life and whatever unfold today. May I glorify You in all that I do.”
This verse reminds us to align every action, word, thought, or deed with Jesus and what he would do while maintaining a heart of gratitude. What a powerful verse. God Bless. Amen.
