I went to Walmart the other day to pick up a few items. I don’t often go there but they had an item I needed, so I went. Lots of people, no place to check out, you know what it is like. So, instead of waiting in line I go to the self-checkout lane. I get my stuff, bag it all up, put the bags back in the cart and go to my car. When I got to the car, I found I did not ring up my bottle of peroxide. Ugh. So, I put my bags in the car. Get the bottle of peroxide and go back into the store to pay for it. I see the greeter and say, “Sorry, I need to come back in to pay for this. Somehow, I did not ring it up.” She said, “I use a lot of peroxide. They used to cost over $3.00. Now they are only $1.30 or thereof. Thank you for being honest. Not very many people would do that.” Really? Then I thought, “Well, I have done a few things that were not honest. I paid $75.00 for a Cross that cost a lot more, it was missed labeled and I did not correct the cashier.” I ding a car and did not leave a note. I have made mistakes, but the guilt is there! But I do try to be honest and have integrity. I have had to make amends, because of the things I have done. What type of person are you? A person with integrity? Are you honest and trustworthy? Do you show compassion and kindness? Do you help those around you? These qualities are qualities that God wants us to have. They make up our character as people of God. Proverbs 11:3a reads, “The integrity of the upright guides them.” Philippians 4:8-9 tells us, “Finally, brethren, whatever is true whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, do; and the God of peace will be with you.” Today, let us not forget what God has called us to be and to do. Let us remember whom we belong to. Let us stand up for what is right and true. Let us live a life of integrity and honesty! God bless. Amen.
