“But you, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.” (Psalm 3:3 ESV)

This verse is written by King David; while fleeing his son Absalam, it expresses profound trust in God as protector, a restorer of honor, and a source of encouragement during desperate times.

“A shield around me” represents comprehensive divine protection, covering the believer in times of trouble.

“My glory” suggest that God is the restorer of dignity and worth, honoring the believer even when humiliated.

“The lifter of my head” indicates God restores confidence and hope, allowing the downcast to face their challenges.

David wrote this psalm when he was overwhelmed by threats, danger, and lies.  He chose to focus on God rather than the surrounding chaos.  And isn’t this what we are supposed to do?  When life is topsy-turvy full of chaos and frustration we are focus on God, trusting God to see us through the situation at hand.  And when we do this, we like David will say: “But you, O Lord are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.” God Bless.  Amen.
