Matthew 7:7-8 reads, “Ask, and it will be given to you, seek, and you will find, knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it will be opened.” Ask and it will be given to you means that believers can confidently pray to God, and He will provide what is truly good for them according to His will. It is not a formula for getting anything and everything you want. This promise is rooted in faith and trust in God which is aligned with God’s will. Seek, and you will find means that a persistent and passionate search for God, His will, and His righteousness will lead you in God’s ways. Our relationship with God is through active prayer, studying God’s word, and an earnest effort to draw closer unto Him. This part of the scripture is not about getting everything you want, but about God’s promise to respond to those who sincerely seek Him. Knock and it will be opened encourages believers to be active and persistent in their relationship with God. It is moving beyond just asking and seeking what you want. It emphasizes that by actively praying and taking action based on our faith, a door of opportunity, provision, or spiritual understanding will be opened. This scripture is often interpreted as a promise that persistent prayer is answered, and that one’s faith in God gives us hope to those who diligently seek Him. But on a deeper level it is learning to trust God in all situations and circumstances praying continuously, knowing that know matter the outcome, the door will open and God is there seeing you through the situation that is at hand. God Bless. Amen.
