Obey God!

Do we?

October 4, 2026

“Why do you call me ‘Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?” (Luke 6:46 ESV)

In this scripture Jesus talks about the gap between talking about faith and actually living it out.  Jesus says, “Why do you call me Lord.” LORD meaning He is master, but that title requires real obedience to what he says and teaches.

Obedience is the act or habit of doing what you are told, following rules, or complying with commands, from an authority.  The authority is God.  And the action is for us to follow God and what He has called us to do and to be.  This is where we get into trouble.

We are told to be kind—are we?  We are told to honor our father and mother—do we?  We are to thou shall not steal—do we?  We are told thou shall not lust—do we?  We are told honor God—do we?  We are told to love our neighbor as ourselves—do we?  We are told not to gossip—do we?  We are told thou shall not commit adultery—do we?  We are told to love our God with all our heart, mind, soul, and spirit—do we?  We are told to forgive others—do we?  We are told to tame the tongue—do we?  We are told to surrender our worries and anxiety to God—do we?  We are told to pray—do we?

This scripture is very straight forward—we just choose to ignore it.  Sad but true. “Why do you call me ‘Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?”

Obey God!

It is something to try to do!  God Bless.  Amen.
