The Book of Lamentations is in the Old Testament.

October 11, 2024

The Book of Lamentations is in the Old Testament. This book is about the hard times of the Israelite Nation. This book expresses the pain and heartache of God’s chosen people as they cry out to the LORD God Almighty. Lamentations 1:16 tells us, “This is why I weep and my eyes overflow with tears. No one is near to comfort me, no one to restore my spirit. My children are destitute because the enemy has prevailed.” Who hasn’t cried out to God? For we all experience pain and heartache in our daily lives and sometimes our lives can be unbearable. And we hope for better times to come. Hope means a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen. In the Biblical sense hope is the confident affirmation that God is faithful, that He will complete what He has begun. As the author of Lamentations continues to write, as the pain and heartache begin to subsides he says, “The LORD is good to those whose hope is in Him…” (Lamentations 3:25) Today, no matter what you are going through turn to God. Place your hope and trust in Him and He who created all things will see you through. For to hope in God means to bind God’s promise to ourselves. Hope intentionally wraps God’s words and truth around our heart, mind, and life. Thus, we are able to keep putting one foot in front of the other. God Bless. Amen.
