The Truth Will Set You Free.

Our lives should be rooted in God.

January 31, 2026

“To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.  Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”” (John 8:31-32 NIV)

When we abide in God’s word it becomes a continuous process that brings freedom from sin and falsehood.  Freedom from sin is the concept that any thought, action, or attitude that falls short of God’s holiness is diminished.  When we abide in God’s word, sin and falsehood no longer control our lives. We want to live a better life.  We want to follow the life of Christ.  We want to be the type of person God wants us to be.

As our relationship with God grows in truth and understanding, we are set free from the wages of sin that have controlled our lives.

Have you ever gossiped about someone?  This scripture reveals to us, the less likely you are to do so, because your life is rooted in God and you have been set free.  Have you ever hurt someone out of spite, held a grudge, displayed uncontrollable anger?  If we are honest, we probably all have at one time or another.  As we draw closer to God, these sinful actions are not as prevalent, because our lives are rooted in God. Our thoughts and actions no longer control us.  The God within us has set us free and we learn to love as God has loved us.

We want to live our lives in truth, because we have found it in God—we are set free from our sinful nature. So how is your relationship with God?  God Bless.  Amen.
