This is God's Will!

What is God's will in your life?

April 24, 2026

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV)

These verses emphasize maintaining a joyful, prayerful, and grateful attitude regardless of circumstances, as it reflects God’s will and reliance on His faithfulness.

“Rejoice always” is not dependent on how life is treating you but found in God even when life is not so good.  It is a choice to focus on God which gives us hope rather than fleeting difficult situations.

“Pray continually” (or without ceasing) implies maintaining a constant communication with God.  It is waking up to God and giving thanks.  Praying continually is talking to God in the shower.  You say grace before each meal.  You talk to God as you are driving in your car.  You talk to God as you work in the yard.  You talk to God during your break at work.  You talk to God during a commercial instead of scrolling on your phone.  You talk to God when there is a problem.  Any chance you get you discuss the situation you are in.  Prayer is an on going conversation with God throughout the day. You tell God your hurts, concerns, frustrations, and joys.  As you develop your prayer life—God becomes your best friend where you want to spend time with Him, every moment you can get.

“Give thanks in all circumstances” instructs us to be thankful always—in all situations, not necessarily for every situation.  It is one of the most challenging commands in the Bible, because when life is hard, when life does not go our way, it is hard to give thanks.  Learning to give thanks in all situations, one realizes, giving thanks is not a “feeling” it is a discipline.  You realize when life is bad and ugly you can give thanks for you understand God is there with you in the midst of your pain and heartache.

“God’s will” are these actions in your life: rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks in all situations and circumstances.  For when we walk with God daily and throughout the day—God’s will is manifested in our life.  God Bless.  Amen.
