To be jealous means having resentment against a rival, a person enjoying success or envy toward someone and their achievements. We all know how easy it is for us to become jealous of someone. All of us, at one time or another, has been jealous of someone. Jealousy is one of the 7 deadly sins. I have found, that the one who is jealous has a tendency to do mean and spiteful things toward the person he or she is jealous of. Scripture tells us, this type of behavior is unhealthy. James 3:14-15 reads, “But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.” Then Philippians 2:3 says, “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.” What these scriptures remind of is that we are to put jealousy aside and focus on our LORD God Almighty. Today, if you are having a jealous spirit go to God in prayer, talk to God about who you are jealous of, then let it go, for when you are jealous of another person it only hurts you—NO ONE ELSE. Then, try giving thanks for what you have, don’t focus on what someone else’s has! God Bless. Amen.
