Do You Worry About the Future?

Do you ever think about your future and what it will be? Do you worry and become anxious—even though you know worrying will not change what will happen. Are you worried about a loved one, a friend, a pet? Are you worried about what will come?

A Cultural Reminder: “Whatever Will Be, Will Be”

Doris Day in 1956 made a song famous, “Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be) The lyrics:
“When I was just a little girl, I asked my mother, ‘What will I be?’
Will I be pretty? Will I be rich? Here’s what she said to me. Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will be). The future’s not ours to see. Que Sera, Sera. What will be, will be...”

What We Know for Certain About God

None of us knows what the future holds, what the future will bring. What I do know is that with God no matter what happens God will give us the strength, courage, wisdom, and peace we need to get through the situation at hand.

Strength Beyond Our Own (Philippians 4:13)

Philippians 4:13 reads, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthen me.”

Why Worry Can’t Add to Our Lives (Matthew 6:27)

Matthew 6:27 tells us, “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”

Replacing Anxiety With Prayer and Peace (Philippians 4:6–7)

Then Philippians 4:6-7 explains, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

God Is With Us—No Matter What Comes Next

The future is not ours to see. But no matter what the future brings God is with us—always. And with God on our side, we got this.

God Bless. Amen.
