What is one thing you really want?

June 30, 2023

What is one thing you really want? I mean really want! A million dollars, a new car, a new house, a spouse, a significant other, new clothes, to be cured of your illness, to have a loved one cured of his or her illness? Now let me change up the question and ask it in a different way, “What is one thing you really NEED?” For need and want are two different things! I might want alot of things, but in reality it really isn’t necessary for me to have all my wants. Sure, the items above that I listed are things that would make my life easier, but are they crucial for my survival. What is vital to my existence is that I have a roof over my head; water to drink and food to eat these, are the fundamental things all of us need to survive. Sure, don’t get me wrong I really do want a couple of million dollars, if I had that my life would be awesome! Right? I have prayed for many things. Some of the things I have prayed for have become a reality, others things I have prayed for I have never gotten, but my life has always been complete. I have always gotten by with what I have had, because God has seen me through all situations and circumstances. One of the things we must remember is not to let our list of things that we want become our idols directing our life. Instead, we need to learn how to focus on our love of God and our relationship with God, to guide us and fulfill us. When we do this, you will be amazed how much more you will enjoy life, no matter what is going on. Psalms 20:4 reads, “May he (referring to God) grant you your heart’s desire, and fulfil all your plans!” I pray that the Lord grants you all your requests, but if He does not, know that God is bigger than the situation. God Bless. Amen.
