What makes you happy? Biting into a homemade

What makes you happy?

August 23, 2024

What makes you happy? Biting into a homemade piece of hot bread smothered in butter? Or is it taking long walks with the one you love? Could it be driving around in your car, music blaring, singing at the top of your lungs without a care in the world. Could it be sitting in front of a lake watching the sun move across the water? Could it be eating dinner with the ones you love, laughing and remembering the good times you once shared. Could it be sitting in the stillness of the day listening to your favorite music. Could it be that first bite of that unbelievable chocolate cake? Or could it be spending quite moments with the one you love. What makes you happy? Happiness is a complex emotion that can be defined as a state of well-being, contentment, or joy. It can also be described as a pleasurable experience or a positive outcome of one’s life. Or happiness can occur in one’s accomplishments. Happiness can be experienced in a narrow sense, such as when something good happens in a specific moment in life, such as a baptism, marriage, or birth. Happiness first and foremost though, is an inside job. You choose to be happy, mad, sad, or glad. I believe that true happiness if found only through our relationship with God. For the more you draw closer to God, you will find a loving relationship, unselfishness, a sense of wonder and awe, and gratitude. When we know, love, and serve God, His peace invades your heart, and you can see life in a different way. You enjoy life more. Psalm 16:11 reads, “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence, there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Thus, we can say, true happiness it is found in God’s presence. When this is accomplished, other things seem so much more enjoyable. It is something to think about. God Bless. Amen.
