Your Heart Reveals Your Treasures.

Your actions reveal your belief in God.

February 4, 2026

“But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.  For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Matthew 6:20-21 KJV)

What are our treasures in heaven?  They represent our actions, our words, and our thoughts.  They are to align with God and God’s will for our lives.  Such as love, kindness, mercy, forgiveness, service, and generosity.  Arrogance, rudeness, prideful ways, anger, and self-centeredness are not a part of God nor our love for Him.

Think about it, we tend to put our wants and desires into things, monetary stuff, possessions, money, and prestige.  But they are fragile, temporary and subject to loss or decay.  They are not Godly things, ideas, or a way of life.  It seems as if we get this confused with what God wants us to be and to do in life.  Our wants and desires supersede God’s wants and desires.

The last verse of this scripture emphasizes that one’s passions, focus, and affection (the heart) inevitably follow what it values most (the treasure).  For this scripture contrasts devotion to God with the pursuit of material wealth and things.  For God want us to be as devoted to Him, if not more, than to our things, possessions, and wants in life.  It is something for us to re-examine, to review, what truly are our treasures! God Bless.  Amen.
