God is Watching.

God is aways watching, all the time, not just some of the time.

“For the word of God is alive and active.  Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow, it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12 NIV)

“The word of God is alive and active” means God’s word possesses inherent power to transform lives, convict minds, and actively work within us.  For God is and was and will always be.  He does not change.  He moves in and through us.  He is always there!

“Sharper than any double-edge sword” In Roman times, a two-edged sword was a highly precise, lethal weapon designed for piercing.  The metaphor highlights the absolute precision of God and God’s word.

“Deep penetration” the division of ‘soul and spirit’ and ‘joints and marrow’ represents the deepest, most hidden layers of human existence—both spiritual and physical.

This verse concludes by revealing that God and God’s word acts as a spiritual mirror, exposing our true motives, our secret thoughts, and our hidden attitudes.  God sees all things, hears all things, knows all things.  Nothing can elude God.  But we try. We try to hide our sins, our true motives, our hate, our jealousy, our doubts and fears, our shame, our pride and self-sufficiency.

Ultimately, trying to hide these things stems from a misunderstanding of God and who and what He is.  We can hide nothing from God.  Today, try getting right with God.  Try to be the person God has called you to be.  Let go of your foolish ways.  You are not a little child who can hide from God.  It is time to start adulting.  It is time to learn to accept the things you cannot change, the courage to change the things you can, and the wisdom to know the difference.  For God is watching.  He is always watching.  He knows—we just sometimes forget! God Bless. Amen.
