Where Does our Strength Come From?

Our strength comes from God.

October 12, 2026

“It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure.” (Psalms 18:32 KJV)

Where does your strength come from? The definition of strength is quality or state of being physically, mentally, or emotionally strong, or the capacity to withstand pressure, force, or stress, whether it is inner resilience, mental and emotional strength, or spiritual strength. It is God who arms us with strength.

For when we feel overwhelmed, exhausted, or incapable of handling a situation, this verse reminds us we are capable of handling it because God is with us giving us strength.

We forget that in life many things can occur—the good, the bad, and the ugly.  Life is messy, frustrating, and hard at times.  This verse reminds us that God gives us strength to over come life’s difficulties, but He also will keep our way secure.  This means even when walking through uncertain or treacherous seasons (like a difficult job, a strained relationship, grief, loneliness, betrayal) we are given the steady hand needed to navigate it without falling.

This scripture helps us to make a shift from self-reliance to God-reliance. It is an invitation to exhale, rest in God, trust God—it shifts of everyday life to God’s unlimited strength, courage, hope and mercy.  It is learning to pause rather than react to life’s difficulties and allow ourselves to be armed in the strength of God.  Trusting that our path is secure even if we can’t see the next step. For we know we are secure in God’s hands.  It is something to remember the next time your life feels out of control!  God Bless.  Amen.
