A simple question that most people will answer

A simple question that most people will answer in the way they want others to see them.

A simple question that most people will answer in the way they want others to see them. So they hedge on the answer, because they want others to view them in a positive light. Here is the question, “Are you trustworthy and honest?” This means you do not steal, you do not lie, you do not cheat, nor do you scheme to get your way. You always do the right thing. For quite a few people, this is very hard to do, especially the lying part. About 20 years ago the Gazette Newspaper in Oklahoma City had an article about lying. It said the average person lies up to 20 times a day. For example, you get a phone call and the person asks to speak to your spouse you say, “My spouse isn’t here right now,” even though your spouse is sitting next to you. You know your spouse does not want to talk to the other person on the phone so you tell a fib, a lie. It is a simple lie, but it is a lie. Another example, someone asks you to go somewhere. You do not want to go. Instead of answering truthfully, you say you have other plans. A simple lie, but it is a lie. Proverbs 12:22 says, “The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.” This is something to think about, for sometimes, we lie so we do not hurt another person’s feeling, but is that right? Today count how many times you lie—be honest. There is an old saying, “Honesty is the best policy.” But is you cannot say anything nice do not say anything at all. God bless. Amen.
