And there is Joy!

God's consolation brought me joy.

February 9, 2026

“When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.” (Psalms 94:19 NIV)

Anxiety is a natural human emotion characterized by feelings of apprehension, unease, dread, and worry, typically occurring in response to stress or perceived, future-oriented threats.  It is a normal reaction to danger or uncertainty, but becomes an anxiety disorder when it is excessive, persistent, and interferes with daily life. We all get anxious, some of us more so than others.

“Your consolation brought me joy” means that when a person is overwhelmed by anxiety, fear, or distress, God’s comforting presence brings peace and deep happiness to the soul.  It signifies finding emotional, spiritual strength and hope in God’s promises during difficult times.  This comfort is often felt through prayer, reading the Bible, listening to Christian music, and meditating; thus, one finds the presence of the LORD—and there is joy.  It is learning to replace one’s anxiousness with God’s peace and joy.

Today, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13 NIV) For the joy of the Lord is our strength, our peace, and yes, our hope.  God Bless. Amen.
