“…and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” (John 8:32 RSV) Truth means the quality or state of being true. True is in accordance with fact or reality. This scripture tells us that God is true. What is the truth about God? God is understood as the source of absolute truth, who is perfect, holy, and unchanging. Meaning everything God says and does is true and reliable. For God is all things and in all things—true. God is wonderful and mighty—true. God is good—true. God is full of grace and mercy—true. God is all powerful—true. God is the God of all gods—true. God is loving—true. God is kind—true. God is not jealous nor resentful—true. God is all knowing—true. God is enough—true. God is forgiving—true. God is patient—true. God is unchangeable, holy, and just—true. God is our all in all—true. With this understanding when we know God, when we believe in God, when we love God with all our heart, mind, soul, and spirit we are set free. Because we no longer live by guilt, sin, shame, fearfulness, hate, resentment, or anger. We live, and move, and have our being in God and we know the truth and the truth has made us free. God Bless. Amen.
