Be kind, be polite, if you can’t say

Be kind, be polite, if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.

May 16, 2023

Be kind, be polite, if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. Words can either build you up or tear you down. The old saying, “Sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never hurt me...” is not true. Word can and do hurt. In life, I have found that when I am hurting, my words can be sharp and painful, to another person. It is almost, as if, I want that other person to hurt with me. Thus, my words can and at times, do come out mean and spiteful. Scripture tells us we need to be careful what we say. In Isaiah 55:11 it says, “…so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” Therefore, let us always try to watch what we say to others and how we say it. Let us strive to build one another up, not tear each other down. My mother always said, “You get more from honey than with vinegar.” It is a good idea to be nice and kind to others. You can win over people more easily by being polite. It is something for us to remember. For our words, do affect others! God Bless. Amen.
