Deliver me O Lord!

In God do we trust.

June 29, 2026

“O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me.” (Psalms 7:1 KJV)

This verse is a plea from King David asking God for protection and deliverance from his enemies and accusers.  And how many of us ask God for protection and deliverance from our life situations?

We have asked God to help us resist choices that lead us away from Him.  We ask for protection against spiritual warfare.  We ask for help when fear and anxiety overwhelm us.  We request strength when feeling overwhelmed or defeated by life’s challenges.  We ask for protection from toxic people, abusers, or those who wish harm to us.  We pray to remain faithful when temptation lures its ugly head: whether it is sex addiction, gambling addiction, drug addiction, shopping addiction or even food addiction.  We even ask for strength to have a desire to draw closer to God.  And when pride comes to the surface we prayer for determination to put God first in our lives not “self”.

Things really haven’t changed throughout history.  We still cry out to God. We still want to find refuge in Him. David cried out to God, “I take refuge in you.”  By saying these words David surrendered his desire for personal action.  Instead of taking matters into his own hands, he chooses to trust God to be his shield and deliverer.  We too need to do this.  And say the words David spoke, “deliver me” then trust God to see us through the situation.

Saying the words “deliver me” acts as a powerful psychological and spiritual shift that enables trust by moving the burden of control from yourself to God.  See, you cannot say “deliver me” without first acknowledging that you are trapped, overwhelmed, or facing something too big to handle alone.

Today, try placing your trust and hope in God.  Focus your attention on God to see you through, by doing this, you re-center your mind on God as a Savior, Protector, and Counselor.  For He is our deliverer, in God do we trust!  God Bless. Amen.
