Did you know that anger is detrimental to yourself because it triggers stress hormones that negatively impact your physical health, leading to increased risks of heart disease, high blood pressure, and a weakened immune system. Mentally, chronic anger contributes to negative outlooks, depression, and difficulty concentrating and can damage relationships. Anger is an emotion that God has given us. It is a strong feeling of annoyance, displeasure, or hostility. We choose in life to be happy, mad, sad, glad or angry. The Bible acknowledges anger and tells us to learn to deal with it in a healthy manor. Ephesians 4:26-27 reads, “Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger and give no opportunity to the devil.” Psalm 37:8 says, “Don’t give in to worry or anger; it only leads to trouble.” James 1:19-20 tells us, “My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.” Today, if you are angry talk about your anger with someone you trust, get those feelings out. Share your pain and heartache. Do not let the anger fester. Another way is to journal your angry feeling down, do not discount your pain and heartache. Express your feelings on paper—write and write about your anger. Then tear up the paper you have journaled on. Throw it in the trash. As you do that, you throw your anger away. You might have to do it a couple of times. Another way is to pray and pray some more give your anger to God. You can go to a minister or a counselor to talk through your anger. The key is to express your feelings in a healthy manner, not stuff your feelings nor spew your angry feeling out upon someone. It is something to think about. It is something to try. For if you think about it, anger really only hurts you in the long run. There are healthy ways to deal with anger. God Bless. Amen.
