Do you believe?

Why do you believe in God?

April 13, 2026

People believe in God for many reasons cultural, upbringing, personal reasons, and from a logical argument.  And for some people, they believe in God from an emotional and spiritual experience.  Why do you believe in God?

If someone asked you, “Do you believe in God?  Why do you believe in God?”  What would you say?

I would say, I have believed in God all my life.  I do not remember a period in my life where I did not talk to God.  As a small child I would play nuns with my next-door neighbor. In my family, we always said our nighty prayers and gave thanks for our daily meals.  If I had questions about God, I would ask my father.  My mother taught me to pray.  If I got into trouble I would pray—I got into trouble a lot as a child.  In grade school I was picked on, I prayed for those mean kids.  I prayed through my first marriage; it wasn’t a good marriage. I prayed through seminary.  I have always prayed for my husband, my children, my stepchildren, my daughters-in-laws, son-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, my siblings, my parents, my in-laws, my family and my friends. My country. Even my pets.  From as early as I can remember God was always a part of my life.

Scripture tells us in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.”

This verse highlights God’s love, the gift of His Son, and the promise of eternal life for believers. So back to my question, “Do you believe in God?”  For in my opinion, it is the most important question we can ask.  It is something to think about!  God Bless.  Amen.
