Do you ever say things that probably you

Do you ever say things that probably you shouldn’t?

August 20, 2024

Do you ever say things that probably you shouldn’t? Do words ever come out of your month that can hurt another person. The other day my husband and I had a tiff. Soon he said something, then I said something. We got into a strange name calling contest yelling our words to each other from different rooms. Boy was my mouth throwing out combinations of words you would be surprised to hear. I heard my husband from the kitchen laughing, then I am laughing, we hug, kiss and tell each other we are sorry. Laughing as we go about our business. I do not think we have ever done that before acting like second graders. I tell this story to make you think about something. Has it become the norm for people to say whatever is on their mind, whether the words can hurt or not, does it matter anymore? Have we lost our filters? I remember growing up and my mother would say, “If you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all.” Words can and do hurt. Words can either build you up or tear you down. Words have the power to influence the way you think and act. The question is why don’t we filter our words anymore? Why aren’t we careful in what we say to others? The tongue, even though among the smallest of all the members of the body can do the most damage. (James 3:5) Proverbs 16:24 reads, “Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.” Today let us build one another up. Be kind and gracious toward each other. It is something for us to think about. God Bless. Amen.
