Ecclesiastes 10:12 says, “Words from the mouth of the wise are gracious, but fools are consumed by their own lips.” Ephesians 4:29 tells us, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” Exodus 23:1 reminds us, “Do not spread false reports. Do not help a guilty person by being a malicious witness.” These scriptures remind us how we are to speak when sharing our thoughts. The sad thing about gossip, meanness, and malice is that those who are saying those things want to hurt another person or people. There is never a reason to intentionally hurt another person. When you say things out of meanness and malice it shows others what type of person you really are. Abraham Lincoln said, “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.” It is better not to speak than to speak and make a fool of yourself. As people of God, we are to be kind and gracious to all people. People see who you really are by your actions and your words. Today, be the person God has called you to be. For there is never a reason to be mean nor spiteful. God bless. Amen.
