We walk by faith not fact or opinion.

“For we live by faith, not by sight.” (2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV)
What is the difference between an opinion and a fact? A fact is a statement that can be proven true or false with evidence. An opinion is a personal feeling, belief, or judgement that cannot be proven.
Fact: water freezes at 0 degrees Celsius; the earth revolves around the Sun; we need oxygen to survive. Facts about the Bible it is a library of books, it was written over 1,500 years ago, there are three original languages.
Opinions: we each choose food, deciding on what tastes good to us. We have different preferences for music, movies, or books. We decide whether hot or cold weather is better. In the Bible the Bible was inspired by God that should guide our ways and behavior. It is a sacred test of people of faith. It is a historical mythology.
Faith is neither a fact nor an opinion. Faith is a deep conviction, trust, or allegiance that goes beyond objective facts and casual opinions. While a fact relies on physical proof, an opinion is a personal preference, faith is an active choice to rely on something without physical evidence. Faith is absolute trust, it is a commitment, it bridges the unknown. Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)
So, if your faith is teetering, acknowledge the doubt. Faith is not based on a feeling it is based on the unknown. To overcome doubting requires shifting your focus from seeking emotional certainty to making a conscious choice to trust—even in the doubt.
Psalm 28:7a reads, “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in God…) For trusting in God while we doubt means choosing to act on what you know is true even when doubt raises its ugly head. It is walking in faith, holding onto the hope that God is there even when you do not feel it. It is praying, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.” (Mark 9:24) And remember no matter how you feel—God is there whether you feel it or not. God Bless. Amen.
