God Lifts Us Up.

I get knocked down, but God lifts me up.

July 29, 2026

“Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.” (Psalms 37:24KJV)

“I get knocked down but I get up again you’re never gonna keep me down.” (song by Chumbawamba 1997) or you can say, “I fall down and I get up again” Or as the scripture says, “though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down.”

In life, we get knocked down, we fall down, we get discouraged and we forget everyone makes mistakes, whether it was being fired from a job, a bad relationship, a failed friendship, a business failure, financial mistakes, mental health problems, grief, abuse, or an illness.  Life can and will knock us down.

What we forget is that it is not permanent.  It is just a bad moment or a failure, but it does not mean total destruction. God can and will help.  God acts like a parent holding a child’s hand, ready to steady and lift them back up when they fall.

God helps us recover from failures and hardships through both internal transformation and external provisions.  He gives us grace by removing the guilt of the fall, preventing shame from keeping a person down.  He gives us inner strength through resilience, comfort, and peace during emotions distress. And God can and will reframe the failure as a teaching moment, building character and endurance.

“Though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord uphold him with his hand.” This verse offers us comfort in human weakness, when we want to give up, God supports us and offers us hope as we recover from our failures.  We just sometimes forget this.  God Bless.  Amen.
