Gossip is to have casual or unconstrained conversation or reports about other people, typically involving details that are not confirmed as being true. We all gossip. We reason in our minds that if we say something negative or untrue about a person—it is not going to hurt anyone. But words do hurt. Gossip is like a fire burning, and the more fuel you add to it, the stronger it burns. We gossip, I know for a fact we all gossip. Such as: She looks horrible in that dress. Can you believe how rude he is? Have you met Mr. and Mrs. Smith? They act like snobs, don’t they? You get the picture. In fact, just turn on the TV, listen to the news. A bunch of people gossiping and spreading lies. I have been told and have read in Psychology books that when you put a person down, you are trying to build yourself up. Boy, we all must have some poor self-esteem, because there is a lot of gossip going on. Ephesians 4:29 reads, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” Here is something to think about, instead of believing everything you hear find out for yourself, research, and see if it is true. For you truly cannot believe everything you hear. It is something to think about. God Bless. Amen.
