Have a piece of cake, not the whole

Have a piece of cake, not the whole cake.

Have a piece of cake, not the whole cake. Sometimes a small indulgence is good for the soul. Moderation is a good thing to consistently do in one’s life. To over indulged, can be unhealthy. Too much of a good thing isn’t really a good thing after all. But occasionally, to indulge in something is ok. From the purchase of a knick-knack to new clothes, or even a new car can be good for the soul and the spirit, if you can afford it. God wants us to enjoy life; it is OK to cater to yourself in some way, that puts a smile on your face, for all work and no play is not healthy either. But too much indulgences is called gluttony and is a sin of over-consumption, of indulgence, and of inevitable self-destruction. Think about it, self-indulgence is excessive or unrestrained gratification of one’s own appetites, desires, or whims. Thus, moderation is the key to living a good and heathy life. 1 Timothy 6:10 reads, “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.” Philippians 4: 4 reads, “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand…” So if you have been depriving yourself lately, maybe a small indulgence might be the thing to do—it just might lift your spirit. God Bless. Amen.
