I Call Out to the Lord!

The Lord is our strength, our hope, our salvation.

July 14, 2026

“I love you, O Lord, my strength.  The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.  I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.” (Psalm 181-3 NIV)

This Psalm is written by King David after escaping his enemies.  It celebrates God as an unshakeable protector and refuge. David recognizes that his safety comes entirely from the Lord God Almighty.

“Lord my strength” expresses a deep, intimate connection to God, humbly acknowledging that strength comes from the Lord.

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” This verse shows how God is unshakable, undeniable, all powerful, all mighty, our all in all.  He is solid as a rock and meets us at every moment of our lives, the good, the bad, and the ugly parts.  He is our shield, our salvation and our lifeline in times of trouble.

When we are down, He lifts us up.  When we are weak, He strengthens us.  When we are weary, He gives us rest.  When we are anxious, He gives us peace.  When we are lost, He guide us.  When we do not know what to do, He comforts us.  When life bombards us, He sustains us.  When we are overwhelmed by sin, He forgives us. When we feel despised, He loves us.

“I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies” in this part of the verse it shows us that whenever David faced danger, he didn’t panic or rely solely on human strategy: he reached out to God in prayer, confident in the Lord.  And we too need to do this for the Lord is our strength, our hope, our salvation.  And I call out to the LORD…  God Bless.  Amen.
