In April of 1988, my brother died in a very tragic car wreck. It was a senseless death, it was horrible, and it was hard to comprehend. Our family was in pain and heartache. Each of us dealt with his death in different ways. My mother said to me a few years later, “I was in so much pain; it was hard for me to deal with anything. God put a dome around me to protect me. Every little bit He would lift up the dome and let some pain in so I could somehow function and deal with David’s death.” God is a God of comfort and sustains us when we are unable to. God gives us hope when we have none. God holds us in our sorrow. God strengthens us when we are weak. Isaiah 40:31 reads, “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Psalms 121:1-2 states, “I lift up my eyes to the mountains, where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Today, no matter what you are going through take a moment to spend with God. Talk to Him; share your hurts and your concerns, your joys and pain. Then be still and know that God is there, even if it does not feel as if He is, know that He is! For God is our rock and our salvation; He is our fortress. For God is with us. God is there! God Bless. Amen.
