Is there anyone you need to forgive?

September 16, 2023

Is there anyone you need to forgive? Is there anyone you hold a grudge against? I remember, right after I divorced my first husband, it was in the mid-eighties. I was talking to God about how God needed to punish Ed, for he was so abusive. I was telling God how I was a sweetheart and Ed was the bad guy. On and on I went pleading my case. Then God said to me, “Denise, I love Ed. I will never give up on Ed. I believe in Ed. I want him to love me as much as you love me. I am rooting for him to learn to love me.” I said, “But he is mean and angry. You need to punish him for what he did to me!” God said, “Well if you want me to give up on Ed, I am going to have to give up on you. I will have to stop loving and caring for you.” I said, “That is not fair!” God said, “In your eyes it might not seem fair. But let me remind you I am the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY I will always love all my children. I will never give up on anyone. I love you and I love Ed.” Wow! Jesus came into this world for us all, not just some of us. God loves us unconditionally, always and forever. God will never give up on any of us. Now here is the hard part. God wants us to forgive those who have wronged us, as He has forgiven us. In Matthew 6:14-15 we are told, “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” So who do you need to forgive? This very moment go to God and ask for forgiveness. Then let it go. Remember, you do not have to become best friends; all you need to do is forgive. God Bless. Amen.
