It is said that giving gifts is a complex part of our human nature. When you give a gift, it can strengthen bonds with family and friends and often times it helps define a relationship. From a psychological perspective it is usually the giver that gains more from giving the gift than the person who received it. Sometimes a person will give you something freely, without strings, just because that person wants to. Other times, there are strings attached to what a person gives you. Then there are times, a person gives you something because that person wants something in return. Our gifts are given for a reason. Whether the gift is out of love, control, or some kind of gain. Another thing to think about, is our gifts from God. In our relationship with God—God has given each and every one of us gifts to use. God has given us these gifts you use, such as singing, painting, creating, inventing, cooking, gardening, listening, speaking, teaching, helping, caring, and so many more. Sometimes we use these gifts and other times we do not, but rest assured there are no strings attached. They are freely given. When we use the gifts that God has given us, God is glorified. 1 Peter 4:10 says, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” Romans 12:6a tells us, “Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them…” Remember your talent is God’s gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God. (Leo Buscaglia) It is something to think about. God Bless. Amen.
