Jesus Showed Us How to Live!

We are to be examples for others through our words and deeds.

“Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again?  Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with each other.” (Mark9:50 NIV)

Jesus uses salt as a metaphor to teach his disciples about maintaining a dedicated character of God.  Jesus showed us through example by his words and his deeds how we are to live out our lives.  Just as ancient salt was meant to season, preserve, and purify, we are expected to be a positive example to others through our words and deeds.

We are to have a positive impact on others, by what we say and how we act.  This can be done through intentional actions and speaking in kind caring words.  For actions and kind words can and will lift up those around you.

Yesterday my mother-in-law and I went to King Soopers—she needed to get a few groceries.  She left her cart to get a few items while I stood in-line for her to get her prescriptions.

So, she had a cart, I had a cart, and the man in front of us had a cart but he too was off getting stuff, because he did not want to lose his position in line.  I kept pushing his cart, my mother-in-law cart, and mine forward as we moved closer to get our prescriptions.

The 2 ladies behind me asked, “Are all those carts yours?”  I said, “No.” and explained what I was doing.  I also told them that it was Eleanor’s 97th birthday today. When Eleanor got back to the cart they wished her Happy birthday.  They told her how beautiful she is and so on and so forth.  They were so kind and nice.  It made my mother-in-law’s day.  Kindness can make someone’s day or mean words and action can hurt.

Today, let us emulate, let our actions carry the qualities of “salt” through our words and deeds.  It is something for us to remember, it is the way we are supposed to live.  God Bless. Amen.
