My brother and I were talking the other

My brother and I were talking the other day, about the excuses we make.

November 1, 2023

My brother and I were talking the other day, about the excuses we make. The excuses we make and the reason why we do not do things. He said, “You need to listen to Jocko Willink.” He has a small video called, “All your excuses are lies.” In the video Willink says, “All of your excuses are lies, taking the easy road in life and leaving discipline behind you. You make excuses, to support this belief such as: you can’t do something because you don’t have time, you don’t have support, you don’t have the equipment. You are too old or too young, too busy, too tired, too sore. These are all lies, lies, and more lies. The list goes on and on. Our list of excuses does not stop. Think about it, we make excuses by giving false reasons why you cannot do something. These excuses are not valid. Then he says, “Stop the lies with the truth.” Deliver yourself from procrastination, postponing something, being lazy or whatever excuse you make. The TRUTH is that you do have the time, support, and will power. So cast out the lies. Be honest with yourself. You do what you want to do, when you want to do it. And if you don’t want to do something, really do something, that is when the excuses and lies come in. Face the truth, live the truth, listen to the truth, and the truth will set you free. John 8:32 reads, “…you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Truth sets us free because it empowers us to quit making excuses, quit lying to our self and trust our self to do the things we know we need to do. It brings honesty, peace, and self-respect into our life. When our words and actions align with truth, we show that we can be trusted not only to our self but to others as well. For the truth is, we can do anything we set our mind to do—quit lying to yourself! God Bless. Amen.
