My father told me when I was young, that if I hang with the wrong kind of people, who do thing they should not be doing, then I will be guilty by association. I said to him, “But I am not doing anything wrong!” He said, “If you are hanging around them, people think you are doing what they are doing.” I said, “That is wrong!” He said, “It doesn’t matter.” Think about it, if you are constantly out shopping with friends, who buy just to buy. Soon you will start buying things for the fun of it too. If your friends are always on the go, ignoring their families and careers, soon you will be doing the same thing, because having fun seems better than responsibilities. If gaming with your friends is all you want to do until the wee hours of the morning, soon your tiredness will overcome you and your daytime responsibilities will be put on hold. Let us take it a step further, if you are always around people who are negative, angry, frustrated, pessimistic those feeling will rub off on you, soon you too will start experiencing the same thing. If you hang around people, who are positive, happy, optimistic, and filled with laughter and hope those qualities will rub off on you as well. We have to decide whom we want to associate with. Sometimes, we need to be needed and loved so bad that we choose not to see people for who and what they truly are. Our need outweighs what we know is right and true. 1 Corinthians 15:33 reads, “Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”” God calls to live a certain way. And that, is not to follow the crowd. Just because others are doing something, does not mean you should do it too. As Christians, we have to make choices—bad company ruins good morals. Maybe we need to think about follow God and what God wants us to do, instead of being swayed by others. It is something to think about. God Bless. Amen.
