Our mind is a powerful thing. It controls

Our mind is a powerful thing.

October 4, 2025

Our mind is a powerful thing. It controls our thoughts and how we view things whether it is our mind, our emotions, our self-understanding, or our spiritual well-being. Proverbs 23:7 reads, “as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” As a man thinks, so is he. As a woman thinks, so is she. As a child thinks, so is he or she. This one statement means that one’s thoughts shape one’s reality. It highlights the connection between our thoughts and our character. So, if we see life as good and wonderful, that is how our life will be. If we are afraid and fearful of life, that is how our life will be. If we are negative and only see the bad, that is how our life will be. If we view life as a victim, then we will live our life as a victim. We are what we think. There is a saying, “Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you are right.” Deuteronomy 30:19 reads, “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!” Today, I hope you choose good over evil, happiness over sadness, positive over negative, optimism over cynicism. But the choice is yours—what will you choose? For as a person thinks, so you are. God Bless. Amen.
