Temptation is the desire to do something, especially something wrong or unwise. Sin comes in when you act upon the desire, wrongdoing, or unwise action. Sin is anything that separates us from God. Sin is an act considered to be a transgression against God. Many things tempt us as human beings. Some of us are tempted by food, others clothes, spending money, some alcohol, drugs, then there are those who are tempted by gambling, driving fast, stealing, cheating on your spouse, sloth, pride, greed, envy, anger, and gluttony the excess of anything to name a few. Thus, sin is manifested when we act upon the things we are tempted by. Temptation comes from the devil and when we are tempted it is so subtle that it lures us in and boom we sin. When we sin it is easy to blame others for our wrongs, but the only one who causes you to sin is your SELF. James 1:13 reads, “When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone.” James 1:14-15 goes on to say, “But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.” The good news is that when we sin all we need to do is go to our LORD in prayer—ask for forgiveness. Then as you continue to pray, say, “I cannot do this on my own, help me LORD! Help LORD! Give me the strength I need to turn away from this sin.” Try it—it just might change you! God Bless. Amen.
