The day is young filled with all sorts

The day is young filled with all sorts of possibilities.

October 28, 2023

The day is young filled with all sorts of possibilities. The snow is falling causing a winter wonderland. My mind wanders; it is filled with wonder and hope. My tongue burst forth with praise and adoration, to the LORD God Almighty. Then to my great surprise, I think of that person whom I dislike and thoughts of hurt, anger and frustration come forth from my lips. My tongue thus can praise the Lord and in the very next moment curse the person I dislike. Why is that? From our mouth comes, blessing and cursing. James 3 6-7, 9-10 remind us, “And the tongue is a fire. The tongue is an unrighteous world among our members, staining the whole body…With it we bless the LORD and Father, and with it we curse men, who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing.” Today, try curbing your tongue, try to say only nice things and if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. Be polite. Be kind. Be nice. Life is too short to be filled with anger and resentment, meanness and vile. Give thanks, praise God, praise one another. For this is the first day of the rest of your life. Make it a good one, for there aren’t any re-do’s. God Bless. Amen.
