The Glory of God!

Open our eyes so we can see your glory.

August 10, 2026

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” (Psalm 19:1 NIV)

To declare the glory of God means to express, reveal, comment, display, acknowledge the wonders, beauty, and excellence of God.  When this scripture says, “The heavens declare the glory of God” we think of a sunset or a sunrise.  We think of red, yellow, oranges, pink, purple colors that are accented with rays of sunshine and we know there is God.  Then the verse says, “the skies proclaim the work of his hands” and our minds sees God’s glory.

The glory of God.  God’s glory is the visible manifestation ofHis invisible character, supreme excellence, and majestic beauty.  We acknowledge God’s glory because it aligns our perspective with reality, reveals the beauty all around us, and transforms our inner character.  We realize our humanness, our unworthiness, our selfishness: we become changed—we understand who God is.

But do we really understand the glory of God?  Do we really comprehend God’s awesomeness?  No, probably not.  But think about this when we hold an infant in our arms, looking down upon that amazing child, we can see the wonders of God.  When we are out walking and see the beauty all around us, hearing the birds sing their song, we realize the wonders of God.  When we look upon the majestic mountains, we see the wonders of God.

And when I look at my husband, my children and the love thatcomes bursting forth, I see the wonders of God and I give thanks.

Oh, to have the eyes to see, the ears to hears, and the understanding of God, to walk in His ways and do His will, this is when the wonders of God occur.  Then, we can say we truly understand how blessed we are.

Maybe if we focused more on God and less on self, we would find that peace that we have been searching for all along and the wonders of God are manifested.  Let us all declare the wonders of God and if we do this, maybe our day will go a litter smoother.  God Bless.  Amen.
