This May be is as Good as it Gets

Life can be hard, sometimes this is as good a it gets.

January 23, 2026

Life can be hard, unfair and filled with why’s.  “Why me God, I have been a good and faithful person.  I am kind, I work hard and serve you.  So, why is this happening to me?”  Life is life.  Some people’s lives are harder than others.  You cannot compare your life to someone else’s.  For this is your life.  And at times it is unfair.  We all have experienced hurts, pains, and heartaches in our life.  How we deal with it is the key.  Because there are no answers to our why’s.  Life just happens.

The question is, how do you deal with life, when you feel it is unfair?  Do you feel sorry for yourself.  Do you pout? Do you scream and shout at the unfairness of life?  Do you complain?  Or do you try to draw closer to God—seeking strength, hope, and help?  See, we think God owes us an explanation for life’s difficulties. God doesn’t owe us anything.  God doesn’t have to explain something nor get your permissions before things happen in life.

We must learn to turn this type of thought process around.  Instead of thinking we are owed something from God, maybe a better way of thinking is, “I need to go to God for help to get through this situation.”  Because things happen in life.  There is no rhyme or reason—life happens.  A logical explanation or reason is not forth coming.  What is a sure thing, is God.  For God works in all things.  The good, the bad, and the ugly God is there.

Ecclesiastes 2:24-25 reads, “A person can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in their own toil. This too, I see, is from the hand of God for without Him, who can eat or find enjoyment?”

Life happens.  Sometimes it is good and sometimes not so good. What we need to learn to understand is if life throws us lemons, thennlet us make lemonade. And remember, if this is as good as it gets—then make this the best, as good as it gets! God Bless.  Amen.
